“9/17/2006, 8:45 am – 9:45am, N 78°13.370’ E 015°40.024’”
from the series “1h Northern Hemisphere (2005-2008)” by Hans-Christian Schink.

Upon first sighting, I thought Schink’s images were of floating artifacts created through actual damage to the film. I think that drew me to the pictures much more than if someone said “Hey, look what he made by overexposing the sun.” I figured it out pretty quick the first time I saw one (and remembered other famous black sun photo), but I still can’t get over how close the artifacts look.
Regardless, beautiful images.

Ever since Nixon abandoned the Bretton-Woods agreement to back the United States dollar with gold and instead decided to "float" the dollar, the dollar's value has been merely the shared delusion of everyone that uses it. Initially we did this because the French and German governments mounted an attack upon the dollar, exchanging as much of it for gold as possible knowing full well that we had deflated the price of gold and could not keep up with producing gold at $35/oz. We abandoned a gold-backed currency because the United States was unwilling to accept foreign constraints upon its economic policy. However, once again with a floated currency we have hit the same barrier. Today foreign investors hold far more in US government bonds and liquid currency than the worth of our nation's gross national product. Foreign banks now get to decide the price of the dollar more than the US economy, Federal Reserve, and the legislative branch of government combined. There is a solution that's in the best interest of all Americans: the adoption of RAPE DOLLARS as the official US currency. National Institute of Justice estimates placed the annual social cost of rape and other sexual assaults of adults at 127 billion dollars, or about $508 per U.S. resident. That's even with rape being at a record low as of 2003! If we increase our national rape production we could easily put that value at upwards of several trillion dollars! Rape is an endlessly renewable resource. If we back our currency with it we can print as much money as we want without it being inflationary! RAPE DOLLARS are instant riches. The best we can do now is educate people on the advantages of RAPE DOLLARS. In the future we can envision a world with a universal rape-backed currency, and a paradise of incredible proportions. RAPE DOLLARS will be the first step towards achieving that world. http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/Rape_dollarsI'll admit, I've always been a fan of paying off debt with Rape Dollars. Some Gaga observations.
*I got in a conversation with someone last night about her music. What he said was brillant and the truth. " Gaga's background music, is like techno jazz. The BGM doesn't seem like it matches the beats, but throw in her vocals and for some reason the foreground and backtracks some how all come together to be one." I like that observation. ^_^
*Gaga is so separated from other artists at the moment because she takes the idea of Ziggy Stardust and is recreating that idea for 2008. Taking something from long ago and bringing her own modern twist to it and introducing the concepts to a generation that maybe who were never exposed to the 70's and 80's.
*She said in a recent interview that her most special pop culture achievement is bring the gay community more main stream music. That music knows no color, sexual orientation, etc. Now that I think of it, I can't say that just one group of people like her music. I know so many different people who like her. I think the only stereotyping would be she doesn't cater to anyone over the age of say 16 because of her sexual nature oh yes! This photo made me squee! Cyndi Lauper and Gaga!! Idol overdose!!! ^____^
I heard this song while I was in the mall yesterday. I'm not one for Christmas music, but it's sooo catchy in a good way. Cyndi, I <3 you! OMG!! I just found that she has a Christmas album!! The Christmas Conga is fabulous!! ^__^ MUST HAVE! Plus This is so funny! Cyndi Lauper Christmas shopping back in 1986.
Some lines from Gaga songs that I can relate and interpenetrate to my own life experiences:
1. " If I fell in love with you, would you understand me dear....love is weird."
2. " when I walk down the street I hear them say there she goes, that crazy girl, she thinks she's something in this world .So I'm gonna close my ears and dream. 'cause life is never really what it seems.in a world unknown you've gotta hold your own you can't stop me- you're never ever gonna stop me now"
3 "I wanna kiss you But if I do then I might miss you, BABE It's complicated and stupid.Got my ass squeezed by sexy cupid Guess he wants to play, wants to play. Let's play a LoveGame, play a LoveGame.Do you want love or you want fame? Are you in the game?"
4 " I've had a little bit too much, much. All of the people start to rush, start to rush by.A dizzy twisted dance, can't find my drink, or man .Where are my keys? I lost my phone. What's going on on the floor?I love this record baby but I can't see straight anymore.Keep it cool, what's the name of this club?I can't remember but it's alright.Just dance."
5."I’ll never talk again. Oh boy you’ve left me speechless. You’ve left me speechless so speechless. I’ll never love again, Oh friend you’ve left me speechless."
6 "boy we've had a real good time and I wish you the best on your way, eh eh. I didn't mean to hurt you. I never thought we'd fallout of place, eh eh. there's nothing else I can say. eh eh, eh ehI wish he never looked at me that way.eh eh, eh eh. there's nothing else I can say.
7. "And in the silence of the night .Through all the tears And all the lies.I touch myself and it’s alright .Just give in.Don’t give up baby. Open up your heart and your mind to me"
8. "You're my best friend. Whatever come our way, You know im your gal till the end. When i finally go away,I know you'll look for me one day."
9. " Because we want to live the life of the rich and famous."
10. "I want your loving. And I want your revenge. You and me could write a bad romance."
A month from tomorrow I will have the pleasure of experiencing her LIVE! This thought pleases me to no end!!! <3 Current Music: Lady gaga-Alejandro

Chicken Curry
Ingredients:- 1 Tbsp corn, grapeseed, or olive oil
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1/3 cup golden raisins (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground pepper
- 1 1/2 teaspoons yellow curry powder, or to taste
- 4 skinless, boneless, chicken breast halves (1 to 1 1/2 pounds)*
- 1 cup sour cream
- Minced fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish
Directions:[Direct from the chef's words] - Put the oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. When hot, add the onions (and optional raisins), sprinkle with some salt and pepper, and cook, stirring occasionally, until translucent, about 5 minutes. Turn the heat down to medium, sprinkle with half of the curry powder, and continue to cook a minute or two.
Meanwhile, season the chicken with salt and pepper to taste and sprinkle it with the remaining curry powder. Move the onion to one side of the skillet and add the chicken in one layer. Cook for about 2 minutes on each side. Transfer to a plate.</li>- Add the sour cream and stir constantly over medium-low heat until the mixture is nice and thick. Return the chicken to the skillet and cook for a couple more minutes, or until cooked through, turning once.
Results:Despite the image looking incredibly unattractive, it was a really tasty meal. Pretty easy to make, and wholly enjoyable. It tasted delicious as leftovers as well. Easy and tasty. Hard to argue with that, right? Recipe from Simply Recipes Tags: #87: cook a meal i have not made once a, 101 in 1001, food, noms!, recipe Current Music: Bat Boy The Musical

Got a voice mail from her. She's asking that I get her passport and SS card from her ex. Said that if I didn't want to deal with it she'd understand but if not could I call her friend Teddy and let him know. So I called Teddy. He's been housing her since Monday. He took her in after all. Good. He's been trying to get her into a shelter but none of them will take her unless she's detoxed. And beds are hard to come by in detox so she's on a waiting list. That's why she needs her ID to get in. Teddy's right in town so I agreed to get Jackie's ID from Brian, her ex, who lives upstairs, and bring it to Teddy's tonight. Teddy's car is in the shop so he's asking me to bring Jackie to detox if a bed opens up before he gets his car back. I agreed to that too, said I would if I could. When I took Jackie to the hotel Sunday night she forgot to take the beer she had with her. I have it in the fridge. It'll sit there for a long, long time because I don't drink beer. Don't like the taste. I'll keep it to offer to anyone that comes over that may want one. Or maybe I'll just pour it out. I'm definitely not bringing it to her! *** Further update. She was sitting peacefully on Teddy's bed. She'd been to the hospital, had her shoulder X-rayed and her arm's now in a sling. She has many small breaks, not just fractures in her upper arm and shoulder from when the neighbor dog tripped her up in his leash this past summer. She seems happy enough and calm where she is. Seems resigned to the path she's on of detox, or the hospital again, or a shelter. Eva's Village in nearby Paterson has a good program with counseling, help with housing, getting set up on welfare, education, all sorts of groovy things that she needs. That's where she's aiming for. I gave her her things and stayed to talk for a few minutes. When I was walking out of Teddy's bedroom, where I've spent many nights a long time ago I saw written on his door frame "Hope Loves Teddy" in purple. I'd forgotten about that. I tapped it as I walked by it and said, "Wow, you kept that there." He said that it gave him an ego boost when he needed it. ***** The neighbor dog A picture I took in front of Eva's Village when I was driving by one day

Recently... as always, i was down on my local Victoria Line platform. For those not familiar, the Victoria Line is Londons 'newest' tube line (excusing the 1999 extension of the Jubilee Line), built in 1967. Its got 16 stations over 22 miles, that are spaced roughly twice the average distance of other lines, allowing Victoria Line trains to run at 50mph as opposed to every other tube lines 30mph, between stations. Despite this 'newness' the Victoria is under constant maintainance, is by far the hottest line temperature wise and runs the oldest trains, 1967 stock (complete with 'pearl lights') that happen to be the noisiest and smelliest (that 'train' smell). Being a fan of retro engineering, i dont mind in the slightest, and as such, when it is running, the Victoria is the fastest. Anyways.... 1967... Forty two years old... Admittedly, they've been refurbished, around 1995. So as such they dont seem too old. Still old though. Still old enough to be getting gradually replaced... By 2010 stock. Like the one that pulled in while i was 'Recently... as always, i was down on my local Victoria line platform.' I did a double take... when it 'slithered' in... rather than 'clattering' into the station. At first i thought they'd butchered a Central Line train... then i got on... found myself alone, with promotional material on the walls. It was quieter, roomier, less 'throw you around'ier and with horribly hard seating. A Post on Mrs. Deane:

© beierle + keijser
While fiddling around with these wilting flowers a little mindlessly after a long day, it occurred to me that I hadn’t ever come across photo-based art — excuse my language — that uses masked areas (in this case a black alert) as an integral part of the image. Partial overprints have been done before, but not based on computer-generated messages about color information or whatever it is you are masking. One could even imagine that something dreadful glittery is glued or sprayed on the spots now marked a bleak yellow. Of course this particular image is really not an elegant example of what you could achieve with such a technique, but there must exist compositions to which this effect can be added in a meaningful way. If anyone has seen this effect successfully applied elsewhere, do let me know! — And now I know what I can make: an I heart Photograph Xmas-card, yeah…
I love this kind of shit. I was working with one of my students the other day and she had somehow gotten the black value warning stuck on without knowing what it was. She was going through her images and letting out disappointing sighs as she noted they were all bad – they all had this horrible grainyness for some reason. I couldn’t figure out what she was talking about until I turned off the shadow value warning toggle and she got super excited, asking how I fixed her images. Blew both her minds – I totally didn’t understand how she was seeing, that she could think it was a natural part of her image, somehow she’d gotten that in camera, etc.

This Sunday, 20 December, I'm hosting a Cookie Swap. I originally planned to make it more traditional, with several dozen cookies brought by each person, blah blah blah. Now I'm making it MUCH more casual. Show up at 4:00 with cookies. Try to bring at least two dozen of your homemade cookies, and we'll set out a cookie buffet of sorts. Bring tins or whatever stuff you want to use to pack up your cookies. We'll try varieties, and then you get to pack up an assortment of cookies to take home - you bring lots, you get lots; you bring a little, you get a little. You determine how cookie-fied you want your Christmas to be. :) I'll make some dinner for us to eat, and we'll hang out. Sounds good? Who's in? Tags: holiday

Hi all, I'm trying to think/plan ahead here. My daughter's 4th birthday is in February, and we're going to throw her a party (her first non-family party!). No way we can have it at our house - even if only half the kids invited showed up, they wouldn't fit in our house with their parents.
We've been looking at places like Boomerang's or Pump It Up, or one of the gymnastics places in Frisco/Plano. But the problem I'm running into is she wants to actually do a theme (dragons), and most of these places don't allow you to bring your own food or decorations or games.
So....anyone have any ideas? Are there places where you can just rent a small space, and do whatever in it? I'm not sure that would be at all cost effective, but it might be worth looking at. And we considered a park, but mid-February is not exactly the best time to be planning outdoor activities, unfortunately.
Thanks!
